A City//Pt. 3

A City//Pt. 3

**This past Sunday Pastor Sunday Pastor Leisa shared a powerful word with our Rock Congregation entitled “A City Filled With Willing Vessels”. It was such a rich timely word that we wanted to chew on it even further on our She Declares blog, especially for those of you who did not get a chance to hear it. Let the words get down deep in your spirit and remind you how truly significant you are and that you have been called to be a shining light, declaring Worth to those around you.**

“HE who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, will abide, stay and linger in, the shadow and protection of the Almighty!”

BECAUSE WALKING IN HUMILITY WITH HIM, positioning myself under HIS hand, under the shadow of HIS wing secures that I am wrapped in HIM-protected by HIM, nothing can touche me  without HIS consent, or make me feel inferior, or cause me to question who HE is or who I am, unless you choose to walk away from HIS protection. And if HE does allow it to enter my life….. then HE TRUSTS ME TO WALK IT OUT! HE WILL GET THE GLORY BECAUSE I LIVE FOR HIS GLORY TO BE KNOWN.  JUST AS PAUL SAID WHILE IN CHAINS-AND IN PRISON FOR PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS……

2 Cor 4:

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are constantly a target of the enemy, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. 10 Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. 11 Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be evident in our dying bodies. 12 So we live in the face of death, but this has resulted in eternal life for you. 13 But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke-I couldn’t keep silence.” 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

 HUMILITIES’ ANTHEM IS THIS……

Phil 2:1-18

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, truth and justice,  if any tenderness and compassion or mercy, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but HE  made himself nothing, IN HUMILTY, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Do everything without complaining or arguing, gso that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you SHINE LIKE STARS IN THE UNIVERSE!

 Does this SOUND FAMILIAR?:

A City set on a hill , A people who radiate HIM so brightly, they cannot be hidden- CHURCH you are the light of the world!! IF YOU KNOW HIM, YOU ARE THE CARRIER OF THE GREATEST GIFT-THE ANSWER THE WORLD IS LOOKING FOR.

Matthew 5:14- “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

There is a book called “The Mind of Jesus” that I love. This book by William Barclay gives an incredible sketch when it comes to life of Jesus, beginning in the early years.  What Jesus meant in vs. 14, was what HE experienced  yearly as HIS family traveled to Jerusalem for Passover. Though Nazareth, by today’s travel would only be about an hour and a half to two hour drive-but when you are walking-usually in groups from your village it would take days to make the journey through valley-in between the mountains, walking along the Jordan river-the same river where HE would be baptized by HIS cousin and HIS Father would audible speak HIS approval of HIS son.  They would continue on this road-the same road traveled today-passing place after place, victory after victory, and HIS parents would be sharing and reminding of HIM of story after story-just like every Jewish parent was instructed to do in scripture.

HE would pass the fields of great battles-Jericho would be on HIS right, and when they took the turn on the road towards Jerusalem-the plateau where Goliath yelled his onslaughts to the children of Israel would be on his left, the brook where David gathered his 5 stones would be nearby, then within hours they would be passing by the hills and valleys where David would have penned so many of his earlier songs like Psalm 23- the place written about-Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for you are with me-your rod, your word and your staff they COVER ME! Because it was in this lonely solitary place David would have to seek shelter for his lambs and himself-protecting them from the cold, the weather and wild beasts. THEN, within another few hours, they would begin the ascent to Jerusalem usually this last days journey would put their arrival around sunset, meaning the sun was setting behind and shining on to the HOLY CITY. There, on this holy mtn Jesus would see the TEMPLE shining in all its glory the pillars reaching into the atmosphere made of solid gold this place that housed the presence of THE ALMIGHTY, the very presence, HE himself carried, and the glory HE left to come to earth while staring at this magnificent sight-DID HE REALIZE THE JOURNEY HE WAS ON WAS BRING MERCY TO FRUITION AND TAKE ON THE SINS OF THE WORLD so the glory of God could dwell in MAN AND NOT A TEMPLE MADE WITH HANDS.  But all HE knew in this moment, as the Sun blazed onto this Glorious sight, Solomon’s Temple that housed the ark was a sight to behold. IT HELD everything that HE was…. Which is why JESUS would say:

Oh, my followers, my disciples, my lambs, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

What is keeping your light from shining like he intended it to?

Blessings!
